Browser (Web Client)¶

What is the Browser Client?¶

The Insight Browser Client is the web-based version of Insight that runs directly in your web browser without any installation. Simply open the Insight URL in a supported browser to access the full application.

Consider PWA for Enhanced Experience

For a more app-like experience with offline capabilities, consider installing the PWA (Progressive Web App) version.

Feature Notes¶

File System Access¶

Downloads: Files are saved to the browser's Origin Private File System (OPFS)
Uploads: Files can be selected using a file chooser and are stored in the Origin Private File System (OPFS)
No direct access: Cannot directly read/write to specific file system locations

Offline Mode¶

Data download: Insight records can be downloaded to the local database and can be used while offline
No offline operation: The application itself cannot be operated offline - an internet connection is required to load the application
Temporary offline work: If the network becomes temporarily unavailable after loading, downloaded data can still be accessed and modified
For full offline support: Use the PWA, Electron, or native apps instead

Push Notifications¶

Browser must be open with Insight tab active
Polling-based notification checking
No native push notifications (use native apps for that)
